The Unforgettable Change

It needs some times for me to remember about my “Unforgettable Change”. Actually those wonderful memories took me back to the time when I was studying in Senior High School. The story begins like this. When I was about to go to the next level of my education that is to the Senior High School, my family and I have a serious problem about my future. At that time, I was studying in Bangkok because my father was ordered to work in Thailand. There was a problem; I must continue my study in Indonesia while my parents still had another year to spend in Bangkok to finish their duty. I must choose between dormitory school and ordinary school. Firstly, it confused me a lot but in the end I decided to pick the first option because of certain reasons.

My option had taken me to a small town named Muntilan which is located in Central Java. The first time I stepped on the dusty hard cold ground of the school, deep down in my heart I know that this will be my best place to grow-up. And it is true! I had a lot of sweet memories with my lovely little town and especially my school. From the outside, the school looks like a spooky haunted old building as there was a rumor said that it was a place for execution a long time ago but actually behind those walls hidden a warm welcome and so many lessons that I have learned. I do not intend to promote my school too much, but it is such an unbearable feeling that there is some kind of mysterious aura that I have never imagined before when I was struggling for three years in that warm, nice place.

At the time I have learn a lot of things like friendship, brotherhood, courage, spirit, affection and many more. I really feel the change in my life that I was a spoiled boy before, but now I have become a grown man. This might be mostly because of the things I have learned in the dormitory than the things I have studied in the school. For example, at the first time I can’t wash my clothes and that was very embarrassing for me because most of my friends can do it themselves. Then I learned and now washing is just a piece of cake for me. I remember the time when I slept with 20 people and ate with 3 generation. It makes me laugh when I remember those things again.

From the school, I learned how it feels to be a villager, how hard it is to find a job, about my future and of course, how to serve my God. In this school I also learned more about socialization and leadership and also the way to become a good brother. It is hard for me to explain it systematically but I just want to say that truly, each of us have a wonderful life and it is just the matter of perspective; it depends on how we manage to see that wonderful life.
